Volunteer for The Neighbor Project.
Love your neighbor. Love your neighborhood.
Your city needs you.
The central understanding of our work is that everyone—everyone—is needed in the project of community.
So we give what we can- to our families, to our communities. And we work to free others, so that they can give, too.
Every neighbor is an investor. If you’re ready to invest your time, here are some ways The Neighbor Project needs you.
Ongoing opportunities
Partner with us as a church or small group. Church groups and cohorts provide financial sponsorship, help with property upkeep, and offer ongoing relational and spiritual support to neighbors at a specific property.
Be a Maintenance Partner. If you’ve had your own homebuying journey, you can walk alongside a family on theirs. Offer maintenance help, homebuying insight—or simply a caring presence.
“As needed” opportunities
Volunteer for these and we’ll call you when we need you.
Cleaning rental properties and new family homes
Home rehab like landscaping and painting
Truck/van delivery of donated items or to help families move
Money workshops taught by volunteers with finance backgrounds
The Neighbor Project Volunteer philosophy:
Our efforts are NOT charity.
We are not the greater giving to the lesser. Both homebuyers and volunteers are us—each offering something others need: a new perspective, a chance to use gifts; a way to be part of community.
When we volunteer, we live out kindness. That word means what its root implies: We see everyone as KIN.
These homes are OUR homes.
We treat them as such—making our best efforts, knowing that part of our family will be living here.
This means careful attention to detail, neat work, and leaving behind a clean and orderly space.
Volunteering is a PRIVILEGE.
Homebuyers let us enter their world in intimate ways. It’s not that we have to be here or we should be here—we get to be here.
This vulnerable sharing leads us to move in humility, gratitude and joy.
