Homebuyer Education begins with a course led by professionals in your community—home inspectors, lenders, realtors, insurance agents, and attorneys.

Get insights on topics like:

• Choosing the right home

• Finding the right financing

• Understating legal concerns

• Home inspection

• Home insurance

…then get one-on-one homebuying advice.

Once you complete the homebuying education course, you’ll meet with a certified housing counselor to discuss your unique situation and receive personalized advice.

When you complete Homebuyer Education, you’ll receive a certificate verifying your accomplishment.

Many home lenders require this certificate before approving your loan, and it may also qualify you for resources such as special loans, grants and down payment assistance programs.

Ready to apply?

To apply now, follow the link at right. You’ll need the following documents on hand:

  • Pay stubs from the past two months

    • If you have your own business: 6 months of monthly Profit and Loss

  • Driver’s license or other government-issued ID

  • Tax returns from the last two years

    • include all pages and make sure page two of form 1040 is signed and dated

    • Include all corresponding W2 forms

  • Bank statements from the last 3 months for all checking and savings accounts

    • 3 Most Current Months ALL pages-NOT STATEMENT HISTORY

  • Credit Report issued in the last 30 days

    • You can pay $30 during the application for us to pull one for you OR provide your own

  • Bankruptcy documents or bankruptcy discharge order, if applicable 

  • Additional income award letters/statements, if applicable, such as:

    • Child support court order/contribution letter 

    • Link/SNAP

    • Social security income statement

    • Pension

    • Unemployment

  • Your most recent loan statements for any of the following that apply:

    • credit cards

    • car loans

    • furniture loans

    • student loans

    • installment loans


If you have an upcoming home closing date, you’ll also need to provide a copy of your loan estimate, your 1002 lender’s application, and your real estate contract. Your lender and your real estate agent can provide these documents for you.
